University of Alabama graduate posing with Big Al mascot in front of Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa Alabama

Your University of Alabama graduation photos are more than just another thing to check off your senior year to-do list. They celebrate years of hard work, lifelong friendships, and everything that made your time at Alabama unforgettable.

If you’re planning your University of Alabama graduation photos, a little preparation can make your session feel relaxed, fun, and completely you. Here are my biggest tips to help you make the most of your graduation session.

What to Bring to Your University of Alabama Graduation Photos

Your Shaker

Don’t leave it at home.

Your shaker adds movement, school spirit, and that unmistakable Crimson Tide energy. It helps create photos that feel natural and full of life instead of stiff or overly posed.

Biodegradable Confetti

Confetti photos are always a favorite, especially around Bryant-Denny Stadium or the Walk of Champions.

Just make sure it’s biodegradable so we can help keep campus beautiful. I also recommend bringing more than one pack because it usually takes a few tries to get the perfect toss.

Champagne

A champagne pop is one of the best ways to celebrate graduation.

Don’t stress about buying an expensive bottle. Whether it’s $12 or $40, it photographs the same. The fun is in the celebration, and I’ll walk you through exactly how to pop it.

Comfortable Shoes

We’ll be walking between several iconic campus locations during your University of Alabama graduation photos, so comfortable shoes are a must.

If you’re wearing heels, bring a pair of sneakers or sandals to change into between locations. Your feet will thank you later.

A Small Touch-Up Kit

Spring weather in Tuscaloosa can be unpredictable, so I always recommend bringing:

  • Lip gloss
  • Powder
  • Bobby pins
  • A hairbrush

Quick touch-ups throughout your session help you look your best from beginning to end.

Bring More Than One Outfit

One of the easiest ways to add variety to your University of Alabama graduation photos is by bringing multiple outfits.

Your cap and gown are a must, but I also recommend bringing something that feels like you. A white dress is always a classic choice, but I also love game day outfits, looks that represent your major, or anything that makes you feel confident.

More outfit options also give you more photos to use for graduation announcements, Instagram, LinkedIn, and prints for your family.

Sunrise or Sunset?

Both create beautiful University of Alabama graduation photos, but each has a different feel.

Sunrise

Sunrise sessions are one of my favorites because campus is peaceful, the light is soft, and you’ll avoid the crowds at popular locations. If you’re hoping for clean photos with fewer people in the background, sunrise is a great option.

Sunset

Golden hour gives your photos that warm, glowy look that feels like the perfect way to celebrate graduation. Sunset sessions are incredibly popular during graduation season, so booking early is always a good idea.

The Best University of Alabama Graduation Photos Feel Natural

The best photos usually aren’t the perfectly posed ones.

They’re the moments where you’re walking across the Quad, tossing your cap, shaking your shaker, popping champagne, or laughing with your friends. Those are the photos that truly capture what this season of life felt like.

Don’t worry if being in front of the camera feels awkward at first. I’ll guide you through the entire session so nothing feels forced.

Make Your University of Alabama Graduation Photos Personal

Your graduation session should tell your story.

Bring your honors cords, graduation stole, sorority or fraternity items, a football jersey, props from your major, or even your roommates and best friends for a few photos. Those little details make your gallery feel uniquely yours.
