The historic dirsh house wedding ceremony

There’s something about a The Historic Drish House that just sets the tone from the second you arrive, and I had the honor of photographing this one from start to finish. Between the sunshine, the laughter, and a couple whose story you honestly couldn’t make up, it was one of those days that felt effortless in the best way.

Getting Ready: A Morning That Felt Easy

The morning started slow and calm, which always makes such a difference. Light poured through the windows, details were laid out, and there was this steady build of excitement without anything feeling rushed.

One of my favorite parts right away was the color palette—soft pink bridesmaid dresses paired with clean white florals. It was simple, classic, and let everything else shine. And those florals? Even more special knowing they were created by the couple themselves through their business, Pat’s Florist.

It added such a personal layer to the entire day, and as their photographer, those are the kinds of details I love documenting.

Their Story (Because It’s Too Good Not to Share)

They met on a golf course—he was a golfer, she was a cart girl. He asked her out… and she said no. Eventually, she gave in, went on a date with him, and now here we are.

Not only are they married, but they also work together at Pat’s Florist, which made incorporating their work into the wedding feel so natural and meaningful.

And yes… the golf course made a reappearance throughout the day in the best way. And being in Tuscaloosa, of course they had to give their guests a taste of a Yellow Hammer.

First Look & Portraits: Natural and Unscripted

Instead of a first look with the groom, she chose to do a first look with her dad—and it was one of those moments where everything else just kind of fades out for a second.

She had him turn around when she was ready, and the second he saw her… instant tears. It was emotional in the best, most genuine way, and one of my favorite parts of the day to photograph.

After that, we moved into portraits and kept everything simple and movement-based. Nothing overly posed, just guiding them when needed and letting the rest happen naturally. The backdrop of the house gave us that elevated feel without taking away from the connection between everyone.

That’s something I love about a The Historic Drish House wedding—it photographs beautifully while still letting moments feel real.

The Ceremony: Full of Joy

The ceremony was filled with exactly what you’d hope for—sunshine, happy tears, and so many smiles.

One of my favorite moments leading into it was the bride arriving in a vintage car, which felt so fitting for the setting and added that extra touch of charm to the day. It was one of those entrances that just makes everything feel a little more special.

As the ceremony began, all eyes were on them. Framed by a beautiful floral arch, they exchanged vows surrounded by their people, and you could feel the emotion in every moment.

And then… their first kiss. The kind where everyone is smiling, cheering, and fully in it with them.

It felt like them from start to finish, and getting to photograph those moments as they unfolded made it all the more meaningful.

The Celebration: Laughter That Didn’t Stop

Once the ceremony wrapped, we moved straight into bridal party portraits, which were so much fun. The energy was high, everyone was excited, and it made for the best mix of classic shots and those more candid, in-between moments.

After that, I pulled the couple aside for their portraits, and this is always one of my favorite parts of the day. Everything slows down for a second, and they actually get a moment to be together. We kept things relaxed and natural, just letting them soak it all in while I documented it as it unfolded.

We ended the evening with their first dances, which were such a sweet way to close out the part of the day I was there for. There’s something about those moments—everyone gathered around, watching, fully present—that always feels a little extra meaningful.

As a Tuscaloosa Wedding Photographer, these are the moments I’m always looking to capture—the ones that feel real, emotional, and completely true to the day.

And throughout it all, those pink and white details and their custom florals tied everything together so seamlessly.

A Few Words From the Couple

“Literally captured everything so perfectly and authentically. We are over the moon with everything from the very beginning. Will always be highly recommending you forever.”

Messages like this never get old. This is exactly why I do what I do.

Why I Love Photographing a Drish House Wedding

The Historic Drish House wedding has this way of balancing elegance with personality. It gives you that classic Southern backdrop, but still leaves space for your story to come through in a way that feels completely your own.

This day wasn’t about perfect timelines or posed moments. It was about joy, connection, and celebrating something real—and that’s always what I’m there to capture.
