Being able to photograph those moments without having to pack everything up and drive to another location afterward is a huge plus.

It also gives us more flexibility with your timeline. We can photograph your details, getting-ready moments, and portraits around the property while keeping everyone close by before the ceremony begins.

A Covered Ceremony Space (AKA One Less Reason to Stress About Rain)

If you’re planning a wedding in Alabama, there’s one thing you absolutely cannot control: the weather.

One of my favorite things about The Villa is that the ceremony location is covered. You still get the feeling and natural light of an outdoor ceremony without having to completely change your plans if Alabama decides to throw a random rainstorm into your wedding day.

As a photographer, I LOVE this because rain doesn’t automatically mean sacrificing the ceremony setup you envisioned or moving everything into a last-minute backup location.

You can still have a beautiful ceremony while you and your guests stay protected from the weather.

And if it does rain? Rainy wedding days can make for some pretty incredible photos too.

Wedding Portraits Around The Villa, Tuscaloosa Wedding Venue

Since your entire day can happen at The Villa, we can use the property for your wedding portraits without losing a huge chunk of your timeline traveling somewhere else.

Depending on your wedding day plans, we can photograph your wedding party, family portraits, and newlywed portraits around the venue before or after the ceremony.

This is also why I always recommend leaving a little breathing room in your photography timeline. Having that extra time gives us the freedom to walk around, find the best light, and create beautiful portraits without making your wedding day feel like one giant photoshoot.

Making The Villa Your Own

One of the reasons I wanted to include photos from multiple weddings in this guide is because they show just how different the same venue can look.

Your florals, tablescapes, cake, signage, colors, and all of those tiny details you spent months choosing completely change the feel of the space.

That’s also why I make time to photograph your reception details before everyone comes in whenever the timeline allows. Once the party starts, chairs move, drinks appear on tables, and everything starts looking a little more lived-in.

There’s something special about having photos of the room exactly how you envisioned it before the happy chaos begins.

An Indoor Reception Space

After your ceremony, the celebration moves indoors for the reception.

Besides giving you a dedicated space for dinner, cake cutting, first dances, and the dance floor, having an indoor reception is another huge advantage when the weather isn’t cooperating.

Rain outside? You can still celebrate.

Alabama decided it wants to be 95 degrees with 100% humidity? You have an indoor reception waiting for you.

When you’re choosing a wedding venue, having spaces that work regardless of the weather is something I would absolutely consider. You’ve put way too much time into planning your wedding to spend the week before obsessively refreshing the weather app.

Why I Love Photographing Weddings at The Villa

From a photography perspective, one of the biggest benefits of The Villa is simply how convenient the day can be.

You can get ready, have your ceremony, take portraits, and celebrate your reception without leaving the property. That means less driving, fewer opportunities for the timeline to get behind, and more time spent with the people you actually invited to celebrate with you.

And because I’ve photographed multiple weddings at The Villa, I already have an idea of how the property photographs throughout different parts of a wedding day while still approaching every wedding differently.

Your photos should look like your wedding, not a copy of the last wedding I photographed there.

Planning Your Wedding at The Villa in Tuscaloosa?

If you’re planning a wedding at The Villa, my biggest advice is to take advantage of having everything in one place.

Give yourself enough time to enjoy getting ready. Leave some breathing room for portraits. Put thought into the details that will make the reception space feel like yours. And most importantly, don’t plan every single minute so tightly that you don’t have time to experience any of it.

Because at the end of the day, some of my favorite photos are usually the ones nobody planned.

The tear your mom wipes away. Your best friend fixing your hair. Your dad helping with one last detail. The look you give each other when you realize you’re actually married. The absolute chaos happening on the dance floor.

Those are the moments that make your wedding yours.
